The first high school in Powell was established in 1874 and was called Perkins High School. In 1916, it was renamed for Columbus Powell, the prominent person for whom the Powell Railroad Depot had been named earlier. The current school was established in 1948. Its most recent renovation was completed in 1985.
One of the biggest goals of the Alumni Association is our Scholarship Fund. The scholarships are awarded to those designated by the board of the Alumni Association as those deserving through academic achievements, community service, and other accolades.
Since 1964 the Powell High School Alumni Association has awarded over $125,000 in scholarship funding!
